“The Allegory of the Modern World”
Pixtabxl will be present at the international contemporary art festival “Les Papillons” 2017 in Carpentras. Opening on July 1st and exhibition throughout the summer.
The cork is the central theme of this presentation, a symbol of lightness, thanks to its material, cork, which floats with the waves. The cork is the heralding sign of the celebration, which we leave on a tablecloth, but which we keep as a souvenir in a jar like a trophy…
The caps presented are proud, erected in a simple, but precise graphic. Like portraits, each one has their personality, their terroir. The cork is life!
But in this canvas, beyond the purely static presentation, the corks come out of their balance to move in an allegory of the modern world.
The fragility of today’s world comes down to an unstable and precarious balance, where everything can be called into question from one day to the next…
It is important to come out unscathed, between drunkenness and reality. The bottle comes out of the cellar and its cork is magnified…
As the artist says, “The cork is what’s left when you’ve forgotten everything…”
