September 11 remains a date that will forever mark the beginning of the 21st century. The transition to the year 2000, and the arrival of this new century had been announced with floods and apocalypse. In the end it didn’t happen.
The event, which would plunge the world into chaos, happened a year and nine months later… It changed a certain vision of a happy West and ensured that nothing would be the same again…
The painting presented echoes this sad day, in its own way, like a modern-day Guernica, a harbinger of other events to come… There are also many similarities between these two periods, history being perhaps only an eternal beginning again.
