Lying down or almost, sitting,… it doesn’t matter; they do not exhibit themselves, they reveal their nudity. Because they ignore the one who is looking at them, they are only themselves. It’s the Nude attitude. Without artifice, secrecy or falsehood, they express states of mind with their bodies.
Nudity is not the object of the painting, but the means of accessing the subject, The Woman. Beyond the implicit sensuality, the artist highlights the curved lines of their bodies and declines the tones of color on their skin to demonstrate the authenticity that these women express with their nudity.
The artist surprises them, makes them visible, and they appear, in the time of a watercolor.
La Nude attitude is on display in Aix from the end of February 2017 at the Galerie de l’Esdac. Opening reception on Saturday March 4 from 6 p.m.
